Swiss Sympany Group automates incoming mail processing with Mail CENTER

The automated processing of incoming mail at the Sympany group will enable it to initially process 200,000 documents every year. In the final phase of expansion, this will increase to 2 million documents yearly. To achieve this, the insurance group has opted for the technical and professional experience of Captaris Document Technologies, previously Océ Document Technologies.

With this ambitious incoming mail project, Captaris Document Technologies has satisfied another customer in the Swiss insurance market. This achievement can be put down to the proven expertise and many years of experience which Captaris has gained during incoming mail projects at other insurance groups, such as AOK and HUK.

The use of tried and tested standard components combined with simple and clear operability and a high level of ergonomic quality are nevertheless fully compatible with the extensive configuration options that Sympany also requires. The solution stands out due to the fact that, since the beginning of the project, over 100 document classes have already been processed – a total of 200,000 documents yearly.

To guarantee this, the DOKuStar Capture Suite (DCS) is utilized. This consists of Capture-Workflow, the recognition component DOKuStar Professional and the validation client DOKuStar Validation, as well as dedicated import and export modules.

In addition to the DOKuStar Capture Suite, the system solution is based on three Kodak i620 scanners, Busy Scan Professional (by Captaris Document Technologies) as scan client, several VM servers with disk space in a SAN (storage area network), as well as a clustered SQL server. Maximum safety, reliability and availability ensure the complete duplication of the system on a second, spatially separate data center. In order to process further the specific data in connected systems, it is imported asynchronously using BatchItCE into the Enterprise Content Management Platform FileNet P8.
