User expertise

Programming knowledge of C, C++, Visual C for integration of Open Text Capture Recognition Engine, RecoStar-Z Professional and RecoStar Software. No programming knowledge is required for the integration of RecoStar Server Professional or RecoStar Server, or for the interactive definition of recognition objects.

Character sets

Hand print: numeric and alphanumeric, upper and lower case; machine print: numeric and alphanumeric, OCRA, OCR-B, Farrington 7B, E13B, CMC7, tick boxes with pixel counters. Depending on the recognition engine specified and the texts to be read, special country-specific classifiers can also be used. These facilitate worldwide use of the engine.

Classifiers

Depending on the OCR engine used and the types of texts to be read, the following country-specific classifiers are available: American, Belgian, Irish, Canadian, Slovenian, Croatian, Azerbaijanian, Portuguese, Western Europe , Central Europe , Chinese, German, English, French, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Malaysian, Dutch, Austrian, Polish, Russian, Swiss, Scandinavian, Slovakian, Spanish, Thai, Czech, Turkish, Hungarian, Euromix. Further classifiers are available on request.

Voting

RecoStar enables the use of just one recognition engine. Open Text Capture Recognition Engine additionally enables the use of both recognition engines in parallel and with voting.

Throughput

Throughput is dependent on the type of document, computer configuration and type of licence selected. Throughput ranges from 8 to 1,000+ characters per second (cps). A Pentium4 2 GHz system can reach a throughput of up to 1,500 cps depending on the complexity of the form.

Intel Pentium (or compatible), 128 MB RAM, 180 MB of available hard drive space
