User expertise

Programming knowledge of C, C++, Visual C for integration of RecoStar, RecoStar-Z and RecoStar Software.
No programming knowledge is required for integration of RecoStar Server or for interactive definition of recognition objects.

Character sets

Hand print: numeric and alphanumeric, upper and lower case; machine print: numeric and alphanumeric, OCRA, OCR-B, Farrington 7B, E13B, CMC7, tick boxes with pixel counters. Depending on the recognition engine specified and the texts to be read, special country-specific classifiers can also be used. These facilitate worldwide use of the engine.

Classifiers

Depending on the OCR engine used and the types of texts to be read, the following country-specific classifiers are available: American, Belgian, Irish, Canadian, Slovenian, Croatian, Azerbaijanian, Portuguese, Western Europe, Central Europe, German, English, French, Greek, Italian, Lithuanian, Malaysian, Dutch, Austrian, Polish, Russian, Swiss, Scandinavian, Slovakian, Spanish, Thai, Czech, Turkish, Hungarian, Euromix. Further classifiers are available on request.

Throughput

Throughput is dependent on the type of document, computer configuration and type of licence selected. Throughput ranges from 8 to more than 1,000+ characters per second (cps). A Pentium4 2 GHz system can reach a throughput of up to 1,500 cps depending on the complexity of the form.

Minimum hardware requirements

Intel Pentium (or compatible), 128 MB RAM, 180 MB of available hard drive space

Image formats

Tiff 6.0 binary; PCX binary; CCITT Fax Group III and IV compression; preferred image resolution 200 – 400 dpi; TIFF, JPEG, JFIF, BMP and PCX.
