DOKuStar ACT

Adaptive Classification Technology

DOKuStar ACT analyzes electronic documents and assigns them to document classes. The software determines whether a document received, for instance, by an insurance company comprises a claim, a contract alteration, an application form or a response to a mailing. This document classification is the first stage of document analysis and is usually augmented by extraction of index and reference data. DOKuStar ACT is a module of the DOKuStar product family that performs one step out of the whole sequence of steps by which DOKuStar captures documents.

DOKuStar ACT classifies documents according to content criteria and not according to layout. A document is assigned to a specific class if certain words, phrases or character sequences are found in it. It is, however, not necessary to specify these features – DOKuStar ACT identifies these features itself on the basis of a training sample.

The automatic learning process makes working with DOKuStar ACT dead easy. No IT expertise is required to train in new document classes and optimize recognition accuracy for already defined document classes. Userfriendly administration is important because document classification is not a static task. An organization’s incoming documents change over time, and class definitions must also adjust to match changing organizational workflows.
