Open Text Invoice Capture Center is a fast and secure capture flow for the automated interpretation of unstructured documents. Integrated herein is the document interpretation software DOKuStar.

Documents are scanned and the electronic images are stored in an archive. Capture Invoice Center uses Open Text Capture Document Reader (DOKuStar) for document analysis. The integrated software extracts the relevant invoice data (invoice header data, supplier’s data, amount fields, etc.).

As each invoice has its individual design, the demand on the software is high. For the Document Reader Open Text Document Technologies has developed a knowledge base. Without previous training the software extracts the invoice data from the digital image. The "Invoice Knowledge Base" was established, tested and optimized on the basis of a great amount of invoices. Thus Document Reader is able to perform error-free extraction of between 70 and 90 percent of the fields on an invoice. In addition, Document Reader applies the fuzzy data base check during the analysis comparing the read information – such as names, address, bank affiliation, supplier’s number, etc. – with the ERP master data.

In a subsequent step, clerks use Document Validation for a visual check and manual supplement of the extracted invoice data with direct relation to the image. The final step in the processing chain is to export the invoice data to the target application. Via standard interfaces Capture Invoice Center can be attached to both archive and DMS systems and an ERP system.
