Processing of travel documents in Singapore

To handle up to 40,000 hand-printed embarkation/disembarkation cards was the challenge which we faced in this project from the Immigration Office in Singapore. Open Text Document Technologies delivered and installed three high-speed TransStar document readers, excellent character recognition products and our document processing system BUSY for the ACES (Automated Character Recognition System) project.

Additionally, the customer specific application software was developed by our experts. This package handles the complete processing steps, data processing and archiving as well as border control inquiries and statistics for tourism. Before our systems have been installed all documents had be keyed-in manually into computer systems. ACES increases data accuracy and speeds up processing to allow for better and faster passenger controls. As an additional benefit the border control can utilize its personnel more efficient.
